Inkurable Stampers- One layer wonders

Wow! this challenge got me procrastinating, but i was thrilled when i finally started. It's a bit like making mail art-just go for it!

I used the stampotique honeycomb background stamp around the edges, clear embossed for a resist effect, with weathered wood and bundled sage to distress it. The feature stamp was this Stampavie Bear & Robin stamp. I used Lead pencil, white chalk pencil, white gel pen and black felt tip to colour it in grayscale. A small christmas greeting from darkroom door finished it.

Have a go at Sarah's challenge blog here.

Inkurable Stampers- Shabby Chic Cristmas!

Aaah! Hurry hurry hurry! Last day to enter the Inkurable Stampers November Challenge!!

These are my christmas cards for my friends (first one shown is the one I am entering)

(click on above pictures for a larger image)

Once again I used my "Oh Joy!" papers (and got to use all the different ones!). The puzzle peices were with sizzix dies, stamped with various christmas stamps and distress inked. The tim holtz music stamp is fast becoming one of my favourites! Twine and cotton tied with a charm around the puzzle peices (each mounted) and Darkroom door christmas wordstrip phrases finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lets Get Shabby & a sewing project

Hey I'm back!

I have had my shabby entry waiting to be posted for a while, but I finally got round to posting it.

As this Christmas card is going to be for my wonderful mum, I used a recessed window as a sort of tribute :) I used some more of my lovely "Oh Joy!" papers from Cosmo Cricket.

The challenge was to use at least three sewing items, including pins. I used pins, ribbon and a safety pin for my 3 items.

I also made a funky door snake out of corduroy- it even had dinosaur spines :P

Inkurable Stampers October Challenge: Sketch!

Hey!
I have missed a month on Inkurable stampers, and though it's late, I have put in an entry :)
It is the first of my Christmas cards (:O hasn't the year gone fast!?) and I am going to use the Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy papers (last years christmas range) which we managed to find at an american shop: Inky Impressions. She also has a VERY exciting amount of charms and even illustrates her own stamps!

Anyways, Here is the card I created for Sarah's challenge:

I started off by stamping a stampers anonymous(I'm assuming Tim Holtz) music stamp on my cream card base, which I then distress inked with tea dye. I used some oh joy paper (teared a bit) on the top, then added two green ribbons. I used four small squares with embossed Kaisercraft dear santa stamps, which I inked over in various colours (resist). As the finishing touch, I added "merry christmas" in small black letter stickers above the ribbon.

Happy Bday HAT!

Recently I went to a crazy mad hatter sleep over party, so as I was feeling creative and inspired when I designed my friends card, this is what I came up with:

:D It took me ages but I finished it and I was very proud :P

This is the technique I used to create the hat: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/boxinabag/ - except I didn't pinch it together at the top and added a lid and a base.

I did as much as I could with the hat before I wrapped it around the box base.

I used:

  • cardstock
  • PP
  • ribbon
  • wire
  • brads
  • flowers
  • stamps
  • eyelets
  • embossing powder
  • charms
  • cotton
  • tearing =D
  • and some more ribbon, and some more PP, and some more............
I'd love to hear what you think!

Inkurable Stampers July challenge!

Hello!
Here is my entry for Sarah's latest challenge over at Inkurable Stampers:

A close up so you can see the depth in the card.

I started of with some purple basil for the base of the card. I stamped onto white card the "Precious Moments" stamp from stampavie, which I cut out and coloured. I stamped a Tim Holtz bird stamp in black(from lost&found set), and the flowers from the "Sweetest Bug Icons" Heidi Grace set I stamped in peeled paint for some background. I used purple buttons and some cotton for flowers. I put a "hugs & kisses" sentiment from the darkroom door "All Occasions" (VERY useful) set in the middle. I folded the paper(from Bo bunny flutter butter range) in a corner for an added feature.

Thats all from me for now,

Em

Sketch Saturday #105

Hi all!
This is the first time I've entered at Sketch Saturday, and the first time I've done a sketch too!
I did this to match the mail art envelope I entered in Inkurable Stampers last challenge(except this time I wasn't so dainty with the distress inks :D) I don't really have much to say about this one, since it's using moslty the same things as I used on the mail art. But, there is one particular thing, the white bordering is actually a torn strip from a piece of paper, twisted until it looked like that.

Mailart!

This months challenge over at Inkurable Stampers was mailart. I found this so fun, and I made three :D
This one was actually the second one I did, but it is the one that I am entering into the challenge.

These were the other two. On all three I followed the same process:

  1. Versamark and clear emboss first stamps.
  2. Distress ink :D
  3. Other Stamps.
  4. Extras(distress stickles, dm, etc.)
They were all pretty simple, but SO FUN to do!

p.s. going to make some mail art for inkurable stampers challenge soon!

Where else would Joseph's coat come from?

Hello! As you probably have noticed I haven't been on my blog as much as I use to. I will show you my apron in the next post.

The sheep is needle felted, and it is roughly about 2" all round. All the coloured balls I felted hard, which usually I am too impatient to do! All the parts were sewn on(thanks mum :D) He definitely is my favourite felting project so far :)

Inkurable Birthday Challenge #3

Hi all!
Sorry I haven't been posting much, but it's not Christmas and there's not many cards to do :P
It's my amazing Mum's birthday today, and I made her a card which could be entered into the Inkurable Stamper's Birthday Challenge(#3):

The challenge was to use a technique called spotlighting, which you can find out about here at Sarah's bday challenge #3 post.

It was a pretty simple design, so I don't really know what to say as you can pretty much see exactly what I did :) The stamp is just a mounted stamp, I don't know the brand. The "love you" stamp was from Kaisercraft's "Love" clear stamp collection, and the PP is from the "Kaiser Prarie Lane" collection.

Mum and I made aprons the other day, so I might upload a photo for you :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Catch up

Well i think its been a little too long since I posted a project, so im catching up with a few.

As my first project of the year i did an art title page. It took me ages to work out a design, but i finally got it. I sketched all the tentacles first, then coloured them in with pastel pencils, and gave them a little outline with a normal black pencil. I rubbed out all the smudges in the art letters and outlined them with a thick charcoal border to give them punch. Finally I went around the edges of the page with a bit of brown pastel.

A different view.

I did a bit of fiddling around with this kinda thing. They are suprisingly easy, so i will give you a quick tutorial :)
1. You will need a compass. Draw a full circle the size you want it (keep it in cm).
2. Use the compass point to make holes 1cm apart, horizontally and vertically. You sould be able to see them in the drawing. The holes should be in the circle and out the circle, about the same amount of holes outside the hole as the diameter or radius(I can't remember, so do diameter to be safe :P) of the base circle.
3.make sure you haven't changed the compass size since the base circle. start with one of the holes right next to the center hole. draw with the compass from where it meets with the base circle on one side, to where it meets with the other.
4. Do this with all the holes until your circle looks like mine.

I hope this tut is ok, if it is confusing i will do another one better explained :)

I am about to start on a scrap LO for school(gotta love homeschooling :D ) and i am working on a felting project, and a temari ball with mum, again for school. you can find out about them here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Inkurable Stampers Challenge

Hi everyone!!!
Sorry it's been so long since I last posted.
Sarah at inkurable stampers January challenge is to make a paper art doll. I made a little bride and groom, both about 4inches/10cm tall.

I used the back of bazill cardstock to make stamping and drawing easier and clearer. All of the bride's jewellry is made of Kaisercraft clear rhinestones, and the flowers, and the groom's hair is punched out with a very small flower punch. The brides hair is Ranger distress stickles (vintage photo) and her veil is a small piece of white organza. Both the bride and the groom's outfits are Versamark stamped (darkroom door floral stamp and kaisercraft love clear stamps) and embossed(clear with sparkles on the bride and clear on the groom).
